New NYR store means Calgary just got a little more beautiful

By Giselle Wedemire

Neal’s Yard Remedies, the British purveyor of all-natural, organic beauty products, is expanding its reach in Calgary.

On Oct. 28, it was announced via press release that the chain will branch out of the trendy Mission neighbourhood (where its first Canadian store is located) by opening its second shop in Calgary in Southcentre Mall, thus marking the second phase of CEO Lisa Costello’s plan to expand the brand and open 10 new locations of NYR across Canada over the next five years.

The new store will open its doors on Oct. 30 and, while it won’t have spa treatment rooms like its sister store in Mission, it will be stocked with its usual, full selection of natural and organic essential oils, skincare, cosmetics, etc. (much of which is vegan and gluten-free, HOLLA!).

To celebrate the opening of this brand new store, NYR will be running in-store giveaways, as well a weekly online giveaway on Instagram starting tomorrow (Oct. 30). According to the press release, an “exclusive gift” will be given to lucky followers of NYR’s social media accounts; all you have to do is share your favourite at-home remedy with the hashtag #MyNYR, and follow the company on Instagram, on Twitter or on Facebook for updates.

Personally, I'm excited about this new store because it means more Calgarians will get the chance to experience this brand and its fantastic products. I'm a fan of NYR’s vegan products, and am particularly fond of their super fun 'Create Your Own' events, which combine organic, natural skincare and DIY attitudes for fun classes that will draw out your inner-mad scientist. (And their all-natural mascara is to die for. I mean, it makes your eyes pop and it smells like freshly baked cookies, so yeah, it’s a winner in my books).

Are you excited about the new NYR store? Will you be attending the grand opening event tomorrow afternoon? What do you think of mascara that smells like cookies? Let us know by commenting below, or by tweeting us at @PickyBitchez.
