Sweet treats for a sweet cause: another vegan bake sale hits YYC

By Giselle Wedemire

In case you missed the Sixth Annual Calgary Vegan Bake Sale in May (or if you just couldn't get your fill of cruelty-free sweets the first time around), fear not! Another vegan bake sale is coming to town this weekend.

On July 18, the Pawsitive Match Vegan Bake Sale will offer goodies for everyone looking to snap up delicious vegan treats that benefit a great cause. In addition to traditional vegan baked goods, you can expect to find specialty items for those who follow a wheat-free or raw diet. Homemade dog treats will also be available, so your pooch can get in on the bake sale action, too!

Proceeds will go to the Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation -- a Calgary-based no-kill, non-profit shelter that aims to give rescue dogs a second chance at finding a loving home.

And, as if vegan baked goods aren't enough of a reason to go to a bake sale, the folks behind the Pawsitive Match Vegan Bake Sale have taken things up a notch: attendees can meet some of the dogs available for adoption through the foundation. That's right, you can eat cookies and hang out with puppies at the same time!

If you love puppies and tasty treats, be sure to check out the Pawsitive Match Vegan Bake Sale, which starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Community Natural Foods' 10th Avenue Market (1304 10 Ave SW).
