Day 5: For the natural beauty, SNL fan, amateur cook, and crazy cat lady

By Giselle Wedemire

If the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter ever had a tchotchke-filled sister, it would be Kricket's. This quaint store has practically everything you could ever want or need, as far as little giftables go, and can be a great one-stop shop for almost everyone on your list. (Just don't get one of their hilariously crude or off-colour Christmas cards for your grandma.)

With so many options in this tiny store, it was definitely hard to narrow down our top picks for Day 5 of our 12 Days of Christmas (Shopping), but we hope you can appreciate the few items we've picked out for some of the weirdos eclectic people on your shopping list.

For the SNL fan: Stefon glass ($14.95) or mug ($15.95)

I'd argue that Bill Hader's Stefon character on Saturday Night Live is one of his most loved roles. In fact, I can list off at least 10 people off the top of my head who go giddy at the mere sight of the smirking, know-it-all awkward flamboyance that is Stefon. If just the sight of Stefon can get these people smiling, imagine what sipping from this drinkware will do!

For the crazy cat people in your life: The Crazy Cat Lady Game ($28.95)

Here at Picky Bitchez, we are self-professed crazy cat ladies -- and we are proud of it! If you've got a crazy cat person in your life, this board game is a not-so-subtle way to let them know that their feline obsession is understood and supported. In a seemingly grown-up version of Candy Land, the winner of The Crazy Cat Lady Game is the player with the most cats at the end of the game. This will allow your cat-obsessed friends indulge their needs to adopt an unreasonable amount of cats in a safe (i.e. fantasy) way. It's a win-win!

For the amateur cook: Assorted vegan cookbooks (varying prices)

If you're trying to avoid big-box stores and malls this holiday season, but you've got an amateur cook to shop for, Kricket's has an impressive selection of vegan cookbooks to choose from. We highly recommend Appetite for Reduction and Veganomicon (pictured above), but we've also got our eyes on this year's trash-talking debut Thug Kitchen and the hilariously titled gluten-free cookbook Gluten Is My Bitch.

For the natural beauty: Pacifica gift sets ($24.95)

I'm a fan of perfumes, but I'm not so fond of all of the chemicals and animal testing that go into a typical bottle of perfume. Which is why Pacifica -- a fragrance/beauty brand devoted to being completely gluten-free, vegan, and cruelty-free -- is one of my absolute favourite companies ever. Kricket's carries individual Pacifica fragrance products (sprays, rollerballs, solid perfumes, etc.), but the real deal lies in their Pacifica gift sets, which boast a fragrance rollerball, body butter, and lip tint. Choose from mouthwatering scents like Island Vanilla or Indian Coconut Nectar, and you've got yourself a fab gift for the natural beauty in your life.

You can find Kricket's at 2306 4 Street SW or on Facebook.
